Who we help

Good speech, language and communication skills are fundamental to all children for:

  • Ensuring their basic needs are met
  • Letting others know how they are feeling
  • Forming and maintaining relationships with others
  • Self-esteem, happiness and well-being
  • Learning

All children are entitled to the communication skills they need to fulfil their potential - no child should be left behind because of a difficulty understanding language or expressing themselves.

Speech and language therapists, along with parents/carers and teachers, have a responsibility to identify the need for intervention and provide the appropriate provision. If you are concerned about your child's communication we can help. We provide specialist assessment and therapy for children aged 0-16 years, with a wide range of difficulties. These include:

  • Understanding Language
  • Using words and putting words together in sentences
  • Speech sounds (pronunciation)
  • Grammar in spoken language
  • Developing vocabulary
  • Stammering
  • Auditory memory and processing (listening to, interpreting and recalling spoken language)
  • Social communication difficulties, including for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder)
  • Phonological awareness (early fundamental skills for literacy development)
  • Articulation and oral-motor skills e.g. for children with Dyspraxia
  • Children requiring Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) e.g. Makaton, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).

If you are unsure whether your child needs to be seen by a Speech and Language Therapist, get in touch. We are happy to talk things through with you over the phone, provide general recommendations and advise whether a referral is necessary.
